From Sara Mulhill, Assistant Director:
Sara Mulhall just celebrated 5 years at Fort Myer Child and Youth Services, where she started as a teacher in the School-Age Technology and Homework Lab. Due to her education and the quality of her work, the Child and Youth Services Coordinator asked her to train School-Age staff and plan the School-Age program of activities. For the same reasons, Sara was promoted to Child Development Center Assistant Director, spending part of last year as a half-time Assistant Director and half-time Trainer before settling into a full-time Assistant Director position this year, responsible for Fort Myer's temporary center. Sara is always looking for new oportunities, likes her work, stays very busy, and is excited about moving to the new Child Development Center and new opportunities.

From Jacqueline Tillery, Lead Toddler/Preschool Teacher:
My name is Jacqueline Tillery. I'm a Lead toddler/preschool teacher/mentor and sometimes I call myself "/-slash" because of the many hats I wear to support the center. I have been with Fort Myer Child and Youth Services for 23 years, fresh out of school, and have been a Lead since 1991. I have volunteered and worked in all areas of Child and Youth Services. I coached girls softball and volleyball. I also assist coached boys basketball and chaperoned camping field trips.
I guess you can say I grew up in CYS as an employee, and the knowledge and experiences have prepared me for my role as a parent.
One of the highlights was running into a former parent that informed me her daughter was going into Grad School. Her child was 3 years old when she was in my class. Those are just some of the rewards you get watching young children grow and learn, while providing military families peace of mind while they are at work. Although some days can be challenging, this is my career choice. I look forward to my continued growth in Child and Youth Services.

From Nancy Santos, Lead Teacher:
Hello, my name is Nancy Santos and I am the lead CYPA who opens the early infant room. I have been working with the Fort Myer Child Development Center since June of 1996. Before this my experience of working with children was overseas at Camp Zama, Japan, where I worked with Youth Services before and after school program. I enjoyed every minute of it.
My job opened my eyes to a whole new world, and I loved spending the time with the children. After nearly eight years living in Japan it was time for us to rotate back to the United States. My husband had orders to work at Fort Myer. I was lucky enough to be hired in June of 1996 to work with infants.
The families at Ft. Myer have been great to me since I have been here and the children have a special place in my heart. I am so lucky to be working with a great bunch of caregivers who work so hard to make each baby's day special. I hope to work in this field until I retire because it is so rewarding to watch the infants grow and learn and to be able to see them do so many things for the first time.
